Crane manufacturer Konecranes has introduced the D-series electric chain hoist, which is engineered for industries requiring high-performance lifting solutions with enhanced safety, efficiency and reliability.

Initially available in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, the hoist’s availability will expand globally with additional options expected through 2026.

Designed for demanding environments, the Konecranes D-series offers lifting capacities from 80 kg to 5 000 kg across seven frame sizes, with the company explaining that its design contributes to reduced downtime and improved efficiency.

The D-series electric chain hoist is supported by sophisticated chain storage modules, and can operate reliably in extreme conditions, withstanding ambient temperatures from -20°C to more than 45°C, without reducing its cyclic duration factor.

Konecranes adds that the D-series can also perform at up to 60°C or higher.

Multiple control options are available, including electronically monitored contactor control, conventional contactor control, direct control and integrated or external frequency converter control, with additional configurations expected in 2025.

Users can choose between two-speed hoisting or a stepless mode, the latter being available by the end of the year.

Further, with safety a key focus, it also features a slipping clutch with speed monitoring for automatic safe stops, a 24 V low-voltage contactor control system and operating limit switches to help prevent overload.

“The hoist’s design ensures that no load sinking occurs when the brake is engaged, improving long-term operational security. Its ergonomic pendant control allows for smooth and precise load handling, while the optional Manulift control unit enables single-handed operation for loads up to 500 kg.”

The Manulift is suitable for both right- and left-hand use and can be customised with various attachments to meet industry-specific needs.

The hoist also features a modular design that allows for easy maintenance and quick installation.

The gearbox, slipping clutch and brake are maintenance-free for up to ten years, significantly lowering life cycle costs and minimising interruptions.

It also features a height-adjustable control pendant, which ensures comfortable and efficient use, while the “plug and lift” and “plug and drive” electrical connections simplify installation.

The hoist includes a versatile suspension bracket for seamless integration into different trolleys and crane systems.

Environmental sustainability, meanwhile, has also been a priority in the hoist’s development.

Manufactured at the company’s Germany-based facility using 100% renewable electricity, the hoist follows Konecranes’ Design for Environment principles. The hoist is primarily constructed from recyclable metals, while its packaging is made from fully renewable and recyclable materials.

By the end of 2025, Konecranes plans to introduce an optional connectivity module that will allow for parameter adjustments using mobile devices, enhancing ease of use and streamlining operations.
